Chinese aggression in the Southern Pacific

From the 1970s onwards, China has repeatedly violated the sovereignty of Vietnam's territorial waters.

In 1974, it invaded and occupied the Paracel Islands. In 1988, it again resorted to brute force to capture a major reef that belonged to the Vietnamese Spratly Islands. In recent years, the conduct of the Chinese in the Southern Pacific has descended into a veritable state of lawlessness. Their navy has killed many defenceless Vietnamese fishermen attempting to make a living off the coast of Vietnam. Over the past few weeks, Chinese surveillance vessels have persistently attacked exploration ships that were conducting seismic research within Vietnam's internationally recognized economic exclusion zone.

The Communist regime that rules Vietnam today, however, has responded to China's naked aggression with consistent cowardice. It has even imprisoned Vietnamese citizens who held peaceful demonstrations to denounce this aggression.

For these reasons, Vietnamese refugees in the Netherlands will gather in the Hague on Friday, June 17, 2011 to voice their protests against both Chinese expansionism and the cowardly policy adopted by the Vietnamese Communist regime in the face of this threat.

* A demonstration in front of Communist Vietnam's Embassy, Nassauplein 12, 2585 EB Den Haag, will be held from 13:00h to 14:00h.

* From 14:30h to 15:30h, a subsequent demonstration will be held at the Chinese Embassy, Adriaan Goekooplaan 7, 2517 JX Den Haag.

LETTER OF PROTEST

FROM: Vietnamese-Americans and Veterans of the Former Republic of Vietnam

of Northern California.

- The Socialist Republic of Vietnam’s Ambassador to the

U.S.A. (Consulate General in San Francisco)

Ref: The demonstration of Vietnamese Americans and Veterans of the Former Republic of Vietnam of Northern California on Friday, June 10, 2011; aimed at:

FIRST: We protest against the People’s Republic of China’s barefaced occupation on Vietnam’s border throughout three decades now. The PRC blatantly deprived us of our Truong Sa and Hoang Sa islands, as well as making an unruly claim to their sovereignty in the Pacific Ocean, then dispatched their naval fleets to fire at and arrest Vietnamese fishers right in Vietnam’s own sea territories.

SECOND: We protest against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam’s government for their cowardice concession of land and sea territories to The PRC through several conferences regarding borders and territorial sea.

THIRD: We, Vietnamese Americans’ and Veterans of the Former Republic of Vietnam of Northern California, demonstrate serious concerns for Vietnam’s territorial integrity.

FOURTH: Both Communist countries, China and Vietnam, should remember that history has proved that every regime should have changed. Every unequal treaty has only been valued for a certain time, but the territorial integrity is always a right to its people. No matter where they live, at home or abroad, through every generation in the past, the Vietnamese have been determined to defend their territorial rights left by our ancestors.

FIFTH: We request the Chinese and Vietnamese Consuls at San Francisco to transfer this Letter of Protest to your Embassies in the U.S.A. and your Government in Beijing and Hanoi.

Kính thưa quý vị,

Đứng trước tình trạng ngày càng nguy kịch của lãnh thổ và lãnh hải của Đất Nước:

- Hải quân Tàu Cộng đã nhiều lần công khai xâm phạm lãnh hải Việt Nam, sát hại ngư dân Việt Nam và gần đây họ đã phá hủy thiết cụ tàu thăm dò dầu khí ngay trong hải phận của Việt Nam;

- Trước hành động ngang ngược của bọn xâm lược Tàu Cộng, nhà cầm quyền Cộng Sản Việt Nam đã không có bất cứ hành động cụ thể nào để bảo vệ sự toàn vẹn lãnh hải và ngư dân Việt Nam. Đây là thái độ hèn nhát, đồng lõa và phản quốc của đảng Cộng Sản Việt Nam đối với sự kiện xâm lăng trắng trợn của Tàu Cộng. Thâm độc hơn nữa, nhà nước độc tài Cộng sản Việt Nam còn ra lệnh cho Công An, Mật Vụ theo dõi, chận đứng, hăm dọa, lùng bắt, đánh đập, cầm tù, đuổi học, đuổi sở,… các thanh niên sinh viên, đồng bào tham dự các cuộc biểu tình chống lại bọn xâm lược Tàu Cộng trong những vừa ngày qua.

Để chia sẻ nỗi đau mất biển mất đất, để bày tỏ sự đồng lòng và quyết tâm ủng hộ phong trào chống Tàu Cộng và các cuộc biểu tình chính đáng của đồng bào, các bạn trẻ quốc nội, chúng tôi một số Người Việt Tỵ Nạn cộng sản tại Hòa Lan cùng quyết định tổ chức hai cuộc biểu tình cùng trong ngày:

- Tại Toà Đại Sứ Cộng Sản Việt Nam, từ 13.00 giờ đến 14.00 giờ

Vì sự tồn vong của Tổ Quốc và Dân Tộc Việt Nam, chúng tôi khẩn thiết kêu gọi toàn thể quý đồng hương tham dự biểu tình để cùng chúng tôi:

- Lên án hành vi phản quốc, bán đất dâng biển của tập đoàn độc tài Cộng Sản Việt Nam;

- Lên án Tàu cộng về hành động xâm lăng trắng trợn lãnh thổ và lãnh hải của Việt Nam và cướp bắt ngư dân Việt Nam;

- Ủng hộ các cuộc biểu tình chống Tàu Cộng xâm lược của đồng bào Việt nam trong nước.
